About the role
Reporting to the Specialist Signals Engineer, within Rail Engineering, we are searching for a Signals Engineer to join the world class rail team at our Perth Central Park office.
This role is a great opportunity to provide assurance that signaling infrastructure provided and maintained by others is safe, fit for purpose and conforms to applicable standards and that it is brought into service and/or maintained in a timely manner while minimising business disruption.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards (including RAMS)
- Develop new signal/system engineering standards as required by the division, and periodically review and update existing standards
- Approving engineering design details, testing and commissioning plans, equipment types, technical changes to standards
- Verifying and validating signaling activities to minimise business interruption and help the project delivery teams to meet project schedules
- Communicating regularly with key stakeholders developing strong working relationships to facilitate knowledge & best practice, sharing and cooperation between interdependent business operations
- Establishing strategies for the rail maintenance teams by analysing equipment measurements and results to determine actions which are required to be implemented
- Investigating and assessing repair maintenance breakdowns and then implement corrective actions to mitigate the risk of failure again in the future
What you’ll bring
This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional with sound rail engineering experience to showcase your industry expertise.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Current C Class Drivers License
- Tertiary qualified: reliability, controls systems, electronic systems and electrical engineers
- Experience in a mining/rail environment with a strong or prevalent emphasis on the signaling environment
- Well-rounded understanding of signaling concepts and principles, including “safety in design” principles
- Experience in more than one area of signaling such as concept and detailed design, installation, commissioning, interface design and management
- Ability to work in a team and safety conscious environment
- Experience in a supervisory role (desirable)
