King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the OSH&T Manager, the Site Trainer is responsible for delivering practical, hands-on training to Mining Production, Processing teams, and broader site personnel. Training is conducted in alignment with relevant SOPs, industry standards, and legislative requirements. The role also involves accurately recording competencies to ensure all personnel are qualified and capable in their assigned duties.
In addition, the position ensures onboarding processes are followed, procedures remain current and reflective of operational practices, isolation documentation is accurate, and work methods are applied consistently across all crews.
This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Ensure all training undertaken is provided in a safe and efficient manner, inclusive of Inductions, site Job Procedures, JHA’s and Take 5’s, to drive a proactive and relevant safety culture.
- Delivering practical, hands-on training to Mining Production, Processing teams, and wider site personnel, with the objective of promoting consistent operational practices and reducing variability in performance and outputs across teams.
- Coach, mentor, assess, and monitor the performance of teams personnel, providing regular feedback to Supervisors and Superintendent as required.
- Maintain, review, and analyse workforce training records and Training Needs Analysis data to inform and support workforce development planning.
- Ensure the integrity of training records and competency matrices is maintained, including accurate documentation of time allocated to specific operational personnel, enabling monthly tracking and reporting of trainee time allocations.
About You
- Extensive experience as a Mobile Plant Trainer & Assessor within open-pit gold or hard-rock mining environments, with a strong understanding of AQTF standards, the VET framework, and current legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated operational experience in training personnel across small to large mobile plant fleets, including dump trucks, dozers, IT loaders, loaders, skid steers, and excavators of various sizes.
- Presentation skills to perform classroom-based training and support meetings when required.
- Proven experience with one or more Learning Management Systems, like INS, SuccessFactors, Moodle or similar
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage, influence, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the operational site.
- Good demonstrable skills in Microsoft Suite software especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Hold (or willing to obtain) High Risk Work Licences for LF (Forklift) and EWP, which are desirable for the role.
- Previous exposure to training in working at heights and confined slace entry is highly advantageous.
- Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
