We are looking for an experienced Sourcing Analyst to design, develop and implement sourcing strategy outcomes inclusive of RTP processes, procedures, policies, models and templates within Rio Tinto Procurement.

This role is accountable for single and multi-site sourcing of all Goods & Services for the Bauxite Operations team. Additional discrete projects may be identified by the BU and/or RTP Leaders.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Sourcing Analyst to ensure procurement best practice is applied, build and maintain key relationships and exercise successful negotiation skills.Reporting to the Specialist Sourcing you will:

  • Develop, present and implement of sourcing strategies – including developing & maintaining workable alternatives and contingency plans to effectively mitigate risk for all projects;
  • Develop & issue tenders to bidders & analyse tender results in order to make recommendations to Business Units for supply contracts;
  • Develop and execute appropriate supply Contracts;
  • Contract management of goods & service providers as well as maintaining supplier relationships;Management of documentation requirements, quality assurance processes, performance results and warranty registers as applicable;
  • Applying analytical skills in the analysis of market research data, supplier strategy information, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Developing recommendations based on this analysis to support negotiation strategy planning and execution.
  • Ensuring commercial risks are managed by negotiating favourable contract terms and conditions.
  • Contribute to a strong governance culture in RTP by complying with and driving the behaviour of others consistent with "The Way We Work", “The Group Procurement Standard” and all other RTP governance policies and procedures.
  • Fact base development - collecting and generating precise information and quality data about the sources and drivers of value creation through procurement.

What you will bring

  • Entry level of experience in construction and/or mining contract development.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse array of people internally, externally and internationally.
  • Some experience in commercial and project management aspects, including value delivery.
  • Knowledge of an industrial or mining environment.
  • Knowledge of commercial activities such as business analysis.
  • Working with virtual teams located in distant regions.
  • Working and or living in remote locations.

This role calls for an understanding and ability to apply at a strategic level the following:

  • The ability to drive “Safety” into the contract and procurement processes in order to meet and exceed minimum BU and Rio Tinto Safety Standards.
  • Ability to grasp Procurement best practice.
  • Ability to grasp Commercial Law and Business requirements.
  • Ability to support strategic procurement activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts to ensure that Business Units are correctly calling off contracts.
  • The ability to work effectively and productively in a team environment – including cross-functional teams.
  • A strong level of interpersonal skills and the ability to engage, communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders at operational levels (Specialist, Superintendent, Company representative.)
  • The ability to conduct and manage Supplier Relationships.
  • A background in strategic procurement, contract law, supply chain management, engineering, IT or business;
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

 Desirable

  • A business/commercial qualification would be beneficial
  • CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher
  • MS office suite of products, SAP or an equivalent ERP
  • Ariba and Momentum or equivalent
