Illawarra Metallurgical Coal in New South Wales is a long term and leading coking coal supplier which operates two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal have exciting opportunities for students in their penultimate year, studying the following discipline:   

• Mining Engineering 

ABOUT IMC

Our Illawarra Metallurgical Coal operations are in the Illawarra and Macarthur regions of the southern coalfields of New South Wales, about 75 kilometres south of Sydney. As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in and out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Wollongong. 

Vacation Program 

Our reason is simple – we’re looking for our future leaders and technical experts. 

With operations located across Australia, our Vacation program runs over a 12-week period and is a pathway to our Graduate Program. Our Vacation Program provides practical and hands-on experience to develop new skills and gain technical, professional and hands-on experience required to build your career and reach your potential. 

The vacation program provides you with a unique opportunity to learn and excel in your chosen career. When you join the South32 Vacation Program you will: 

• Gain practical and meaningful experience at your preferred operation 
• Undertake a project relevant to your degree that you will own and deliver 
• Extend your professional network with colleagues from across the globe 
• Grow personally and professionally in a dynamic, inclusive and supportive culture 

To be eligible, you will: 

• Be in your penultimate year of study 
• Have the right to live and work in Australia 
• Be available for the full duration of the program – 12-weeks, commencing November 2023
