ABOUT PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent full-time position, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

The role of Specialist Accounting will be responsible for conducting and supporting the period-end close process, including maintaining the integrity of the general ledger for one of the South32 Australian Operations

Reporting to the Manager Financial Accounting Australian Operations, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Undertake monthly accounting processes and general ledger management for an Australian Operation
  • Review and perform on-going general ledger governance activities to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Undertake accounting analysis to ensure meet both stand alone and Group external financial reporting requirements
  • Annual reporting to assist in the delivery of S32 Financial information to the Market including the preparation of Statutory accounts in a timely manner and in accordance with Group and International Accounting standards

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Experience in Joint Venture Relationship management
  • Experience in accounting/risk/finance/audit or related field is desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP, BI and Cognos
  • Understanding of financial accounting concepts & processes and deliverables in a corporate/commercial environment
  • Sound time management – able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Problem-solving ability uses logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Analytical and accurate, with an inquisitive mindset to critically evaluate information and numbers
  • Ability to work to multiple deadlines and prioritise accordingly 

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
  • CA / CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
