About the Role

Then this is an excellent opportunity for you to join BHP’s Decision Evaluation team.
The purpose of Decision Evaluation is to lead evaluation activities for decisions related to major capital investments, planning, and commercial opportunities across the Company so that the value of every business decision is clear and well informed. We achieve this by providing independent, robust and high-quality economic evaluations of proposed portfolio level decisions and investment opportunities taking into account risks and uncertainties. To maximise our influence we operate in a collaborative and commercially astute way.
We are seeking multiple candidates at Specialist and Principal level to join our Australian teams in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.
The successful candidates could come from a diverse range of backgrounds including geology, processing, consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, law or engineering. Irrespective of background, and leveraging strong financial modelling capabilities, they will be able to offer commercial insight, analytical expertise and strategic thinking and have strong communication and leadership skills.
Primary accountabilities will be to create shareholder value by framing, evaluating and clearly communicating proposed investments to senior decision-makers.
Working either independently or in cross-functional project, planning or commercial teams, you will be required to influence and challenge thinking, prepare concisely written reports and clearly articulate outputs and insights to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Decision Evaluation is part of the Portfolio Strategy and Development (PS&D) global function which also includes Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, Transaction Analysis, Corporate Planning and Strategy & Market Intelligence.

About You
You will have successfully completed a relevant undergraduate degree. In addition, a broadening post graduate finance qualification will be viewed favourably.
You will have demonstrated experience with financial evaluations to support investment decisions. Experience within the resources, manufacturing or other process-driven industry would be an advantage but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate strong business acumen, have an understanding of the key drivers of shareholder value and deploy strong financial modelling skills.

You are able to establish credibility through your strong technical ability, leadership and excellent communication skills. You relate well with people with an engaging style allowing you to communicate confidently and build strong working relationships.
