About the role
We are looking for a Specialist, APAC Light Mobile Equipment within the Global Equipment and Diesel Transition Program team in procurement.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the APAC Light Mobile Equipment (LME) procurement category. You will be entrusted with leading a multifaceted category covering A$120M+ across 20+ key suppliers spanning Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore, Dampier Salt, and Aluminum business units. Furthermore, this high-profile role will be instrumental in leading the commercial deployment of our Right Size Automated Truck Electric (RSATe) program and global LME electrification strategy to advance Rio Tinto’s decarbonization aspirations.
Reporting to the Global Category Manager for Mobile Equipment, your main duties are:
Lead and implement APAC LME Category, RSATe and LME electrification strategies, aligning with Rio Tinto's decarbonization goals.
Drive APAC LME sourcing strategies and processes, including negotiation and agreements.
Manage supplier relationships regionally within the LME category.
Offer timely advice to RTIO stakeholders on LME commercials, contracts and strategies.
Gather data for LME forecasting, supply chain optimization, risk assessment, and supplier evaluation.
Support procurement teams in greenfield operations across Africa, Serbia, and Argentina.
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:
5+ years background in strategic procurement, end-to-end procurement process, contracting and complex commercial evaluations.
Strong engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capability.
A demonstrated ability to foster a positive team culture in a diverse environment.
Experience in LME, innovation implementation and equipment electrification is desirable.
Advanced skills with the Windows environment, including use of the MS Office suite of products and ideally SAP or an equivalent ERP.
Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
