Fortescue is seeking an Approvals Planning Specialist to help shape and deliver the approvals pathways that support our diverse and evolving portfolio of projects, operations and future growth opportunities.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of approvals, strategy, planning, innovation and delivery. You will play a key role in developing practical pathway advice, supporting integrated project schedules and helping the business understand approval risks, opportunities and decision points.
We are looking for someone who brings curiosity, initiative and a willingness to take on complex challenges. You will be comfortable engaging across disciplines and helping the team find smarter, clearer and more integrated ways to plan and deliver approvals.
You will also contribute to the continued modernisation of approvals planning, including the use of integrated scheduling, GIS, data-driven reporting and emerging AI-enabled ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with project, technical, operational and approvals stakeholders to identify approval requirements, pathway options, risks and dependencies.
- Develop practical approvals strategies and pathway advice that support business objectives, project schedules and delivery priorities.
- Facilitate approvals planning meetings, workshops and forums, including the preparation of clear and useful supporting materials.
- Maintain accurate project approval information within the Integrated Approvals
- Schedule and use it to track progress, assess delivery status and support decision making.
- Coordinate clear and timely approvals reporting, including key risks, mitigations, priorities and delivery status.
- Support continuous improvement in approvals planning, including opportunities to use GIS, digital tools, automation and AI-enabled approaches.
- Maintain and foster a working environment that promotes safety in all that we do.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience preparing, coordinating or obtaining approvals, or supporting the delivery of complex projects, operations or business-critical work programs.
- Strong planning, coordination and project management capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex approval pathways into clear and practical advice.
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- A proactive self-starter with sound judgement, curiosity and a willingness to challenge conventional approaches.
- Experience using GIS, integrated schedules, dashboards or other digital planning tools to support planning, reporting or delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Demonstrates an agile mindset, embraces change and works collaboratively to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Positively contributes to team culture through open communication, knowledge sharing and a willingness to support others to achieve common objectives.
