About the Role

The Carrapateena Team is accountable for delivering value at the Asset in the short, medium and long term, against the needs of all stakeholders.  With an immediate and core focus on delivering production outcomes, we have a secondary focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave – this will extend the Carrapateena mine life beyond 2039.  At Carrapateena, we create a safe to fail environment where leaders support, trust and empower individuals to test our own thinking and question the status quo.

The purpose of the Specialist – Asset Improvement (Maintenance) is to provide asset health information using various techniques including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography and NDT to enable detection and optimal management of degraded fixed plant assets. This is to be compliant with regulations and BHP’s policies, procedures and standards.

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta) Roster: 8:6 Department: Engineering & Maintenance Manager: Senior Reliability Engineer Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

In this role you will:

  • Be a member of a team focussed on continually improving the performance and reliability of the Carrapateena fixed plant, through application of asset health information to enable timely decision making.
  • Ensure inspections & assessments are completed as scheduled, with any defects recorded in SAP and escalated in the event they pose a risk to the operation.
  • Support Maintenance Execution with ad-hoc inspection & analysis.
  • Ensure all specialist tooling is managed and maintained to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
  • Actively collaborate within the team to harness the multi-discipline skills available
  • Comply with standard department business processes and communicate these effectively.
  • Seek opportunities to improve tools, practices, development of the people and processes.  Advocate for the initiation of the improvement lifecycle in solving challenges.
  • Ensure improvements are implemented in a safe, effective and financially responsible manner.

About You:

  • Qualified VCAT 3
  • Desirable TCAT 1, LCAT 1/MLT1 and UCAT1
  • Safety orientated with sound OH&S knowledge and specific statutory obligations
  • Demonstrated experience in operational site condition monitoring & NDT testing
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills using multiple data sources and established methodologies
  • Ability to provide sound, timely and pragmatic technical feedback to site teams
  • Experience using Emerson Machinery Health Manager and SAP CMMS.
  • Competent with Microsoft office suite.
  • Management of contractor resources
