Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

Reporting to the Superintendent – Business Improvement, the Specialist will support the execution of entire site improvement initiatives through pipeline management and supporting initiative owners. You will also synthesise information into valuable insights for leaders in the business through data collection, analysis, stakeholder interview/interaction and field analysis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute an opportunity identification and diagnose focus areas through analyses, observations, and prioritization in collaboration with business leaders.
  • Facilitate BUP (Bottom-up planning) processes to recharge initiative pipeline through providing guidance, supporting, and challenging initiative valuations, priorities, and implementation timelines.
  • Drive initiative execution of a small number of high-value initiatives to act as a beacon of best practice.
  • Maintain strict governance of pipeline to manage performance of areas and/or people within this process.
  • Coach leaders to strengthen maturity of MOS practices and routines, providing support to redesign them as necessary.
  • Build business improvement capabilities within Cadia, e.g., business case development, Wave expertise, ideation developments, “Ability to Execute” training.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding about Cadia operations, tools and processes, including pain points and priorities of the different areas. In addition will have excellent stakeholder management engagement, being able to influence and inspire leaders to create their own action plans and achieve results independently.

You will also possess the following:

  • Demonstrated Business Improvement/Engineering/Technical leadership experience in a mining environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant value chain area specialisation, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated achievements in improvement and initiative management and leadership.
  • Lean Six Sigma OR experience in relevant BI methodologies.
  • Proven track record of service delivery with firm understanding of project management processes.
  • Possess a strong understanding of and can apply Cadia MOS principles and associated practices, and can coach others on the benefits of and how to deploy MOS.
