The Operational Excellence team is looking to recruit an experienced Business Improvement Specialist who has the passion and demonstrated capability to deliver value by leading initiatives, coaching, and sustaining improvement through BI best practices.

The Operational Excellence team is part of the Paraburdoo Mine operations leading performance improvement by embedding best practices with oversight across Business Improvement, Contractor Management, Risk and Capital Management, People Logistics and Administration.

Reporting to the Business Improvement Principal, this position will:

  • Lead, facilitate and deliver high value business improvement initiative using structured improvement methodologies
  • Analyse value chain, performance trend and benchmark performance to provide insights to operational leaders to establish pipeline of improvement initiatives.
  • Interpreting costs and production drivers to inform strategic thinking and the evaluation and prioritisation of initiatives
  • Foster improvement skills like lean, problem solving and waste elimination
  • Lead, coach, refine and sustain the practices of RTSPS
  • Create a site culture of sustainable improvement.

This permanent position will be offered on a 5/2/4/3 roster flying out of Perth, Western Australia or the unique opportunity to be residential to Paraburdoo.

Located 80km southwest of Tom Price, Paraburdoo is a town nestled in some of the most scenic landscape in Western Australia. Paraburdoo is recognised for its beautiful scenery, wildlife diversity and close to Karijini National Park. Paraburdoo prides itself on being a safe and friendly community; ideal for young families. The picturesque town provides residents with a range of leisure facilities and local amenities including a domestic airport, hospital, community centre, childcare centre, primary school, parks and a variety of sporting facilities. The recently built Paraburdoo Sports, Fitness and Community Complex offers state of the art facilities including an Olympic-size swimming pool, indoor basketball court and gym.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in a directly relevant role
  • Proven skills in the use of BI methodologies (i.e Lean and/or Six Sigma) that deliver measurable results
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to draw insights from data analysis
  • Skills in the Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite with expert proficiency in Power BI and Excel highly regarded
  • Genuine interest in coaching and fostering a continuous improvement (CI) mindset and thinking
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including confident presentation skills.
