About the Role

This role is responsible for working with the Production, Maintenance, CHPP and Technical Services departments to identify business improvement opportunities and deliver solutions to ensure Mt Arthur Coal achieves or stretches beyond productivity, cost and quality targets.

You will report directly to the Superintendent Business Improvement, a member of the Site Leadership Team directly supporting the General Manager.

The role will provide development opportunities through applying, developing, learning or being exposed to various business improvement skills such as:

  • BI project leader: apply a range of BI skills and techniques to guide and coach stakeholders towards sustainable solutions to business priorities
  • Facilitator: organising and leading sessions with diverse stakeholders
  • Analyst: understand the business, pulling together disparate data sources and drawing insights for action improvement, SLT Performance centre and Monthly ALT reporting
  • Project Manager: apply knowledge, skills, tools and techniques across the basic project management processes and integrating this with fit-for-purpose systems to manage and track projects and initiatives
  • SLT support: coordinate development and refinement of routine and ad hoc materials to support SLT activities and initiatives

The role is permanent, nominally on weekday dayshift with flexibility as required to meet business needs, at least four days per week.

About You

We are seeking applicants with previous experience and/or qualifications in project management or business improvement tools and techniques (structured problem solving, Lean, WOODMITS, continuous improvement, process mapping, visual management, DMAIC, RCA, Theory of Constraints, etc)

Your ability to build and maintain positive working relationships through communicating with impact to influence and drive positive outcomes will see you be successful in this role. You must have exceptional organisational skills and the focus to deliver a quality, timely outcome and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop. You should demonstrate the ability to adapt rapidly to a changing work environment and respond positively to ambiguous situations. You will be a critical thinker and problem solver coupled with confidence to negotiate an outcome and/or make recommendations.
