About the role This role is a great opportunity for a successful individual to work in dynamic team which is responsible for supporting development and maintenance of the annual, five and ten year rail capacity portfolio.

Reporting to the Superintendent Capacity Assurance and working in a collaborative community within Rio Tinto’s Railways Division, you will:

  • Maintain program performance reporting
  • Monitor, manage and report on all relevant project performance indicators and data to ensure consistency and optimisation for individual projects, ensuring project value is captured and verified
  • Coach initiative owners on system entry
  • Effectively prioritise projects and assist project leaders with forecasting
  • Apply governance and quality assurance across the portfolio and promote compliance with standardised processes, systems, and tools
  • Identify key insights, patterns and trends from executed plans to ensure continuous improvement
  • Coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams to deliver capacity initiatives including coordinating workshops, review meetings and maintaining action items
  • Identify replication opportunities
  • Assist with maintaining metrics and reporting standards and integrating outcomes into planning and development
  • Support coordination of rail input into business planning cycles (including quarterly, annual, 5 and 10 year plans), providing insight on the productivity program’s profile across the operations
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and project stakeholders
  • Prepare written reports and make presentations to management
  • Undertake trend analysis and apply a broad understanding of the key value drivers, and manipulate them to optimize the value chain
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and work as a trusted advisor to influence and coach for positive change in mindsets, behaviours, practices and processes

About you

Your strengths in communicating and building relationships with diverse stakeholders coupled with your problem-solving skills will help you succeed in this role. Your capability to partner with and bring together cross functional teams will be critical also. 

To be successfully considered for this role, you’ll bring: 

  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio/program and/or project management
  • Business improvement / business case analysis
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to apply business insight to planning
  • Experience developing and delivering reports and PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
