Specialist Capacity Assurance Portfolio Management

About the role  

Operating out of our state-of-the-art Perth Operations Centre, in this role you will be responsible for supporting development and maintenance of our ten-year rail capacity portfolio. 

Working in a collaborative community within Rio Tinto’s Railways Division, the scope of work you will be accountable for is challenging and diverse. Your demonstrated ability to analyse complex information and engage, connect, and positively influence key stakeholders will be critical to your effectiveness in this role. Reporting to the Superintendent Capacity Assurance you will: 

  • Lead coordination of rail inputs to business planning cycles - including quarterly, annual, and 10-year plans - and provide business insight on the capacity profile across the Railways Division 
  • Identify key supply-chain performance insights, patterns and trends to support a continuous improvement mindset 
  • Actively engage with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities to increase operational effectiveness and establish a pipeline of future improvement opportunities 
  • Coordinate regular reviews to monitor, mitigate risks, act on opportunities, and communicate overall portfolio performance 
  • Coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams to assure delivery of capacity initiatives including coordinating workshops, review meetings and tracking critical action items 
  • Prepare written reports and deliver presentations to business leaders 
  • Effectively prioritise projects and assist project leaders with capacity forecasting 
  • Monitor, manage and report on all relevant project performance indicators and data to ensure consistency and optimisation for individual projects, ensuring project value is captured and verified 
  • Support maintenance of metrics and reporting standards, and integrate outcomes into planning and development

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to apply business insight to planning 
  • Analytical capability in business performance improvement and business case analysis 
  • Sharp commercial acumen and strong stakeholder management skills 
  • Experience developing and delivering reports, PowerPoint presentations and workshops 
  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio/program and/or project management  
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
