Position Title: Specialist Category Management 

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday 

Role overview: 

The Specialist Category Management position is working within the plant processing and will provide specialist procurement advice on a range of fixed plant categories to assist stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contract management - developing and applying processes, procedures, systems, and knowledge to ensure optimum commercial benefit and minimal commercial risk.
  • Supplier relationship management - deliver value through effective management of strategic supplier relationships.
  • Category management and strategic sourcing - build appropriate term category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue business objectives and manage the end-to-end sourcing process for allocated projects.
  • Negotiating – applying an effective process and an understanding of each party’s position to engage with suppliers on high risk and/or high value contracts.
  • Governance and risk management - ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
  • Analysis & reporting - effective analysis and reporting of relevant data at all stages of the procurement lifecycle and create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • Effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently manage priorities.
  • Show a level of resilience to challenging circumstances.
  • Demonstrate how your experience to date will positively contribute to you being successful in this role and an understanding of procurement practices, governance, and processes.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Law or similar is desirable.
  • Working proactively as part of a procurement team focused on providing exceptional customer service to provide commercial support to the business by confidently applying your skills and experience to deliver business outcomes
