About Mt Arthur Coal

Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role

Our Strategy and Closure Execution team for Mt Arthur Coal have a newly created role for a Specialist Closure Execution to support the delivery of studies and projects to enable sustainable and successful closure outcomes.

This is a site-based role at Mt Arthur Coal mine site, Muswellbrook which will require you to be located residentially within the Hunter Valley.

In this role you will: 

  • Support the study program assessing feasibility of alternative post-mining land uses
  • Coordinate consultants and contractors
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to implement agreed work programs
  • Contribute to closure governance processes (per BHP Standards and legal obligations).
  • Coordinate with closure planning, mine planning, engineering operations to test opportunities that deliver positive legacy outcomes from closure studies and projects.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key BHP and external stakeholders, including regulators.

Interpret landform requirements for closure outcomes to support evaluation of alternative post-mining land uses the long-term closure and ongoing rehabilitation of sites  

About You

  • Experience in project management and execution in preferably mining or heavy industry
  • Previous exposure to risk and governance processes
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • A proven ability to work across multiple teams and comfortable balancing priorities
  • Cleare alignment with BHP’s values
