About the role
We are looking for a Specialist Contractor Management to support and drive delivery of RTIOs contractor management strategy at our Brockman 4 Operation. This includes providing technical assistance, support, assurance and expert advice on contractor management practices, as well as developing, coaching and mentoring other professionals and supporting the decision-making processes of leadership.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on a 9/5 FIFO roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Manager Operational Excellence, you will:
Lead a small team of contractor management individuals to actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture, promote safety awareness and compliance, and encourage prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties
Provide appropriate coaching, mentoring and technical support to the operations
Work with operations to define gaps in Contractor Management (CM) processes and standardisation, as well as best practice
Review and improve CM process, resources and tools for Iron Ore (WA) based on legislative and other responsibilities and CMx Diagnostics & DMIRS Audits
Support the appointed Nominated Responsible Manager – Mass Transport in executing required tasks for site
Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures
What you’ll bring
Exceptional communication skills and ability to work autonomously
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and advanced MS office
Previous experience in leading project teams or facilitating workshops to deliver results
Demonstrated understanding of procurement, HSEC, contractor management, processes, practices, governance and reporting.
Demonstrated experience in safety management systems
Skilled in the application of the CM process – personally experienced in managing and onboarding contractors
A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence (Manual)
A business, engineering or other technical degree advantageous
Compliance and auditing qualifications

Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Brockman is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. Opened in 2010, this open pit operation offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.
