Who we’re looking for  

As a senior member of the commercial team, The Specialist - Commercial & Planning will report into the Superintendent - Commercial acting as a subject matter expert providing commercial, financial, and business analysis technical expertise to Cadia and the broader Newcrest group.

With a focus on capital & cost management, planning and valuation activities the ideal candidate will facilitate and deliver improvement to commercial processes on site, manage site and corporate capital forecasting and drive enhanced reporting outcomes to deliver key insights to the business.

You will also be responsible for timely, concise, and accurate activity driven information relating to long-term planning (life of mine / LoPP) and quarterly forecasting requirements.

Other key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Deliver timely and accurate EOM commentary requirements:  Monthly Site Business Commercial Meeting ‘Exco 2 pager’/ Quarterly / Investor Relations / Half Year and Full Year reports.
  • Ensuring site end users receive adequate cost management (SAP, OneView, PowerBI etc) training and that the appropriate level of cost analytics and tools are available.
  • Drives commercial and financial analysis for business improvement and transformation activities.
  • Quarterly forecasting: coordinate and develop timetable and process for each quarterly forecast including continuous process and content improvements.
  • Contribute commercially to the Life of Province Plan (LOPP) with sign offs by each department manager for appropriate inputs.
  • Assist site and corporate counterparts with the understanding of valuations for investment opportunities (analysis & valuations)
  • Ad hoc project work using analytical skills to develop models, efficiency improvements and automation of tasks.
  • Contractor and Supply Analysis
  • As a senior team member within the commercial, planning and analysis team ensure appropriate knowledge and skills are shared amongst other members. Act as a subject matter expert to assist the superintendent with development of team and site knowledge.

You will also possess the following:

  • Tertiary-level qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Commerce/ Engineering or related discipline
  • CPA/CA/CFA Certification
  • Planning and evaluation experience – Highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in a similar Senior role ideally within heavy industry (or the appropriate exposure) role within Mining Operations essential (Oil & Gas, Power Generation considered)
  • Strong investigative, analytical, software, and system skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP/TM1/HFM
  • Confident interpersonal and communication skills and able to work collaboratively with people at all levels of an organisation.
