Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO), a South32 Company, is one of the world's largest manganese mining and concentrating operations located in the Northern Territory. The operation is accountable for over 20% of the worlds' manganese ore production. GEMCO controls and operates all aspects of mining, processing, logistics and shipping on Groote Eylandt.

About the role
This role is a 7:7 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential on a full-time ongoing basis.
In this role, you will provide specialist and technical advice to the GEMCO mine site. You will be involved in the transition of new or enhanced technology services with a particular focus on communication hardware and applications.
Reporting to the Lead Digital Technology, you will continuously identify and implement initiatives in collaboration with Technology and Business teams.
Key accountabilities -
- Integrate Communication Systems that enable continuous operations of GEMCO’s mining and dispatching facilities
- Address workplace hazards and risks and drive safety improvements
- Liaise with other discipline professionals and stakeholders across the operation to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of projects
- Manage contractors and third parties in implementing and support of technology systems through support agreements
- Develop plans and execute tasks to support deployed technologies and technology services
- Provide technical input in solving processing problems. Front-line fault diagnosis
About you
You will have a passion and commitment to workplace safety and have experience working in a similar role within Mining or Heavy Industry.
In addition, you will have-
- Knowledge of collision avoidance and fatigue monitoring systems i.e. Hexagon
- Experience with LTE (long term evolution) and other wireless communication solutions
- Motorola DMR experience
- Modular fleet management experience
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve
