About the role
Our network is the largest privately owned and operated heavy haul rail system in Australia, and as we focus on the future, we are looking for a strategic communicator to help us share our story.
Our Rail team is seeking your professional skills, providing strategic communications and engagement advice, with a current and future lense.
The Communications Specialist – Rail, reports to the Superintendent Business Services - Rail Operations. In this role you will work to understand and translate business strategy, advise leaders and prepare and deliver change communication plans to ensure our people have the key information they require to do their role, and are prepared for change as the business evolves.

We are looking for:
- A confident professional who can quickly interpret information, provide advice and deliver clear and engaging communications to support the Rail business;
- A collaborative team member, who values relationships and can manage multiple key stakeholders and competing priorities;
- An intellectually curious person with excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with strong attention to detail;
- A person who is willing to travel to the Pilbara and is enthusiastic and comfortable stepping onto site to build relationships with our most important assets – our people (approx. 2 overnight trips per month);
- A self-starter is essential, a key role within the Rail team, and closely connected with the central External Affairs & Communications team.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role you will have:
- Proven experience in communications, public relations, change management, reputation management or a closely related field;
- Experience in a complex business using multi-channel storytelling, including digital and social media;
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships;
- Superb organizational and project management skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
- Degree in Bachelor of Communications or related discipline.
