About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Communications & Engagement (5:2/4:3 roster) for a 9-month secondment commencing March 2024. This opportunity would suit applicants who are looking to gain site communications experience, have identified building communication skills as part of their development plan or would like to pursue corporate communications as a career pathway.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Communications with a dotted line to the site General Manager, you will:

  • Develop, coordinate and distribute site-specific communications and engagement that support key business priorities
  • Implement communication strategies that promote positive engagement amongst the workforce
  • Liaise with other site business areas and contractors to support site activities
  • Identify positive stories that can be shared with site, all of Iron Ore and/or externally to enhance the reputation of site and Rio Tinto Iron Ore.

About you

To be considered for an acting opportunity, you will ideally have:

  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills to influence and build effective partnerships
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, RTIO business systems and other communications tools.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in filming, photography and video editing
  • Using social media platforms.

Located 95km north-west of Newman, Yandicoogina offers a range of fly in fly out rosters. As one of Australia's largest-producing iron ore mines; operating a fleet of autonomous trucks and drills, it generates more than 55 million tonnes of Hammersley Iron Yandi (HIY) fines each year.
