We are looking for a Specialist Communities and Social Performance to coordinate and deliver projects across a range of activities within the Communities and Social Performance (CSP) team at Rio Tinto's Argyle Closure project.
This role can be based in Kununurra or fly-in-fly-out from Perth, and will focus on our longstanding relationships, engagement and social investment with surrounding communities as we transition through mine closure and rehabilitation. As our "on the ground" CSP representative, you will play an important role in engaging with surrounding communities about the various activities underway as part of the closure and rehabilitation program and coordinate a number of community programs to support the local communities through the transition period and beyond.

Reporting to the Manager, Social Transition you will:
- Integrate CSP considerations within the Closure site.
- Be the technical CSP SME support for operational and projects teams, including Ops GM.
- Support participatory design, delivery, and management processes with Traditional Owners, including execution
- Coordinate/update integrated multi year CSP plan and Stakeholder Engagement plan, including data capture and systems management. Support implementation.
- Coordinate social risk analysis and Impact Assessments
- Coordinate/develop engagement tools and mechanisms for local stakeholder groups in particular Traditional Owners
- Coordinate governance, tracking and reporting for CSP.
- Support the development and implementation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Tertiary qualification within a relevant field, such as community development or sociology
- C Class Driver’s Licence (WA)
- Demonstrated experience working in communities, corporate affairs and/or a relevant field
- Previous experience and knowledge of social performance and corporate responsibility tools and processes such as stakeholder analysis, social impact measurement and socioeconomic risk
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to build networks with a wide range of people, ability to influence and build consensus
- Cultural Heritage Management and GIS experience/skills
- Experience working in regional and remote communities, particularly Indigenous groups

Where you’ll be working
This role will be residentially based in Kununurra, Western Australia or fly in fly out from Perth. Work is focussed at the Argyle Diamond Mine site with regular travel to the surrounding communities.
Our Argyle diamond mine, which is now closed, sits on the traditional country of the Miriuwung, Gidja, Malgnin and Wularr people in Western Australia. The mine was one of the world’s largest producers of diamonds and the largest supplier of natural-coloured diamonds until it ended production in 2020.
