About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Communities & Social Performance to support the business in developing and implementing land access strategies and processes for exploration project work. You will work closely with stakeholders including Traditional Owners and lead negotiations of land access, heritage and native title agreements.
This is a great opportunity for a Communities and Social Performance professional to work in role with a broad scope and great variety. Your work will vary from coordinating prospecting permits to organizing cultural heritage surveys and developing strategies for large scale exploration activities. This role will be based in our Brisbane office servicing the Northern Territory and North Queensland. Travel will be required as part of your duties.
Reporting to the Senior Advisor Communities and Social Performance and working in a dedicated Communities & Social Performance team, you will be:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with Traditional Owners, representative bodies, consultants, neighbours, community and internal/external stakeholder groups
- Developing and implementing land access strategies and related processes that support exploration project work
- Leading negotiations of land access, cultural heritage and native title agreements
- Ensuring legislative requirements in relation to exploration, mining and native title aspects of law are managed
- Conducting compliance activities relating to Communities & Social Performance standards, access agreements, cultural heritage and other commitments.
- Organising heritage surveys working with Traditional Owner groups and heritage specialists
- Managing contractual obligations under existing agreements
- Working collaboratively towards the resolution of concerns/issues/disputes raised by landholders
- Supporting the delivery of strategy, policy and standards development associated with the Communities & Social Performance area.
What you will bring
· Excellent communication skills and experience negotiating land access agreements including a good knowledge of related legislation
· An excellent understanding of land access legislation and experience developing and implementing land access strategies
· Experience in remote field work including exposure to heritage surveys
· Proven ability to work positively and in partnership with Traditional Owner groups
· Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage and native title matters including knowledge of related legislation
· Experience negotiating heritage agreements and/or cultural heritage management plans
· Ability to build strong working relationships across the business
· Experience in delivering outcomes against deadlines and reaching goal
