This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of Newcrest’s Social Performance team at Cadia mine; delivering a proactive and transparent stakeholder and community engagement program, to ensure Newcrest’s social licence-to-operate this world-class mining operation.

Close to the city of Orange in NSW, Cadia is one of Australia’s largest gold mining operations. We offer a unique opportunity for employees and their families to enjoy a mining career all whilst living in a major regional centre only three hours away from Sydney, NSW. 

Who we’re looking for  

The Specialist - Community and Farms will be responsible for ensuring proactive and comprehensive community engagement to deliver project approvals and to facilitate the mitigation of social performance risks related to direct impacts on stakeholders.

This will involve undertaking timely, proactive and thorough community consultation regarding upcoming modifications, approvals and projects, with the objective of minimising community opposition and ensuring smooth project delivery.

Other key deliverables of the role will include:

  • Ensure all activities are carried out consistent with Cadia’s Safety Management System and the Cadia Social Performance Management System.
  • Developing and implementing effective programs to address social performance risks and ease stakeholder concerns regarding direct (environment based) impacts.
  • Overarching management of Cadia Farmland Strategy, through third party provider, to ensure ongoing KPIS are met for the business.
  • Developing work plans, budgets and reports as required from the Cadia Social Performance Management Plan
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholder groups, and the local community
  • Completing assigned environmental and community projects to appropriate timeframes and deliverables
