Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

Reporting to the Superintendent – Social Performance, the Specialist – Community Engagement will work within the Cadia Social Performance Management System and Cadia Social Performance Plan.

The specialist will undertake timely, proactive, and thorough community consultation regarding upcoming project approvals and general operations. The objective will be maximising community engagement and ensuring a smooth project delivery.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a thorough and targeted consultation program to address direct social performance risks specifically focussing on perceived environmental risks.
  • Develop and implement proactive community engagement opportunities within the community to continue to drive and enhance the site’s social licence to operate reputation.
  • Identify, risk assess and develop management plans for all emerging activities which threaten Cadia’s social licence to operate.
  • Effectively manage the site’s community complaints hotline and investigate and resolve complaints in a timely manner.
  • Effective liaise with operational management, technical, environmental, safety, and approvals teams to deliver successful strategic plans regarding regulatory approvals and community consultation.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills and can work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. In addition, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.

You will also possess the following: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, community engagement, social performance, community psychology or a related field is preferred, however not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in community consultation regarding environmental matters. 
  • Open manual car license or wiling to obtain.
