About the role
This is a permanent full-time role being offered on a 4:3 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential subject to housing availability.
Reporting to the Manager External Affairs, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Support development of and execute GEMCO’s Social Performance Plan, Stakeholder Engagement Plan and Communications Plan.
- Support the GEMCO External Affairs team with its community engagement activities including events management, community partnerships, stakeholder engagement activities and communications.
- Consults and answers community concerns and issues regarding GEMCO’s activities.
- Support management and reporting of community complaints in line with GEMCO’s Complaints Procedure.
- Support identification and management of local issues by monitoring social media and community perception.
- Assists to organise logistics and develop content for strategically aligned community meetings, site tours, town halls, photo shoots and videos.
- Support with communications planning and content to raise awareness and enhance South32's reputation in local communities.
- Provide content and support sharing of community stories through local and corporate communications channels i.e. newsletters, social media, intranet and website and sustainability reports.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Events, or another External Affairs related discipline, or extensive work experience in a directly related environment.
- Experience working in a directly related field
- High level of interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing tasks
- Event management experience preferred
- Experience working in regional or remote Indigenous communities is preferred
