About the Role
Corporate Affairs - Community is seeking a driven and proactive implementer that can successfully support operationalising the Community Strategy. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Affairs - Community, you will have responsibility for various aspects of the Corporate Affairs Community portfolio, including developing and strengthening stakeholder relations, community development and social investment.
This opportunity will be offered as a 12 month secondment or 12 month fixed term contract. It is a residential role based in Newman working a 5/2 roster.
In this role you will:
- Lead the administration and management of BHP’s Community Grant Program including regular liaising with local groups and not-for-profits Facilitate and project manage a range of key social investment contracts
- Active participation across key community forums and engagements (regular and ad-hoc), and providing feedback to the team for consideration and actions as required
- Facilitate the GM Engagement Strategy including coordination of key events and opportunities to build Newman Ops profile through leadership
- Attendance at a number of BHP sponsored and key community events and initiatives to provide on-the-day support as required
- Work with the Corporate Affairs Communications team (based in Perth) for leverage opportunities to protect and enhance the BHP brand and community outcomes
- Oversee the community inbox and triage requests within approved timeframe Promote and assist volunteer opportunities through the WA Volunteer portal
- Coordinate and drive appropriate responses to a range of external issues management across the matrix organisation in alignment with Community and reputation principles
- Support major growth projects as a functional lead in providing key technical inputs
About You
You thrive in a highly dynamic environment with the ability to work agile and pivot based on community issues and needs and have the ability to think innovatively about local challenges and integrate within a collective impact ecosystem Specialist Community. Ideally you will have some experience in community development or volunteer space or similar but is not essential.
Having good engagement and communication skills is required and you have the ability to work through scopes independently and seek out assistance across an established Corporate Affairs network. As this is more an autonomous role you are are comfortable engaging a wide variety of key stakeholders across different areas.
