Contractors make up 50% of our workforce. The newly expanded Contractor Management division has been designed to improve how our operations work with this critical element of our labour team, ensuring they are ready to work on site and go home safely at the end of every shift.

Rio Tinto’s Contract Implementation and Assurance Perth based team is looking to recruit a Specialist, Contract Performance.   This position will be responsible for delivering change management for contract implementation and tracking and actioning performance in contracted spend. 

Reporting to the Superintendent, other key responsibilities will be to:

·         Audit contracts to ensure scopes are adequately reflected in contracts

·         Support ‘walk the contract’ activities

·         Support contractor management partners and procurement leads in implementation of new contracts and sourcing strategies

·         Validate spend being made with preferred suppliers and aligned with sourcing strategies

·         Investigate and provide recommendations in areas where contracted spend is not aligned with sourcing strategies

·         Verify invoices are accurate and leakage is minimised using multiple systems

·         Partner with operational contract owners and make intervention to improve invoice accuracy

·         Identify areas of opportunity where contracts are unclear or ambiguous in terms and drive improvement with procurement leads

·         Support contractor management partners with broader insights and provide key recommendations for future high value work pipeline

·         Provide procurement lead insights and recommendations where supplier billing behaviour is not aligned to contract

About you To be considered suitable, you will be able to able to understand the process of contracts and purchase to pay process, quickly comprehend complex issues, evaluate options, and be able to identify the best path forward.  You will have exceptional communication skills and professional presentation, including demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders.

You will have at least 3 to 5 years demonstrated contract management experience, procurement/commercial experience and ideally an understanding of contractor management and contractor engagement systems. 

This permanent Monday to Friday Perth based position will suit someone who is willing to embrace the opportunity of regular, ad hoc travel to our sites in the Pilbara.
