We are looking for a Specialist – Critical Long Term Process to support our technical team at Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL). This role will ensure the aluminium smelting process is controlled within an acceptable range and continually developed to improve the performance, efficiency, and overall stability in a safe, environmentally sensitive and cost-effective way.

Reporting to Superintendent - Process Control Boyne Smelters, you will be:
- Taking a proactive approach to safety and where necessary participating in accident/incident investigations, hazard studies and risk assessments.
- Implementing technical solutions, monitoring, and maintaining compliance for the Reduction technical team.
- Providing advice and decision-making support to ensure effective strategic and operational outcomes
- Preparing and maintaining management plans and processes to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with requirements.
- Providing support to a professional engineering team and providing ready solutions to the smelting operations team.
- A key focus on continuous improvement and communication of these initiatives to relevant stakeholders.
- Advising and responding to plant and process variation.
- Working closely with technical and operations stakeholders both onsite and within the wider business.
What you will bring
- Tertiary or Higher qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions.
- A visual leadership style of guiding, mentoring, developing and empowering team members.
- An unwavering commitment to improve and maintain health, safety and environmental standards.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in the aluminium smelting process
- A proven track record of engaging a wide range of people in a site environment to deliver an outcome.

Where you’ll be working
Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
