About the Role
This role is primarily responsible for performing data analytics and reporting activities to provide insights and trends from investigations data. Reporting to the Manager of Governance, Systems and Reporting, the Specialist role combines the performance of data analysis and reporting activities and obtaining information from BHP systems to support internal investigations.
Strength operating in a digital environment is essential for this role as it is expected to provide data insights and trends from investigations data, including;
- Extracts, analyses, validates and models data to identify insights and trends to share with stakeholders.
- Contributes and support the design, preparation and delivery of Ethics & Investigations (E&I) data reports.
- Support the E&I team through the performance of data extractions and queries to support investigations activities.
As Specialist, case management support is imperative. You will:
- Identify BHP data that might assist with the investigation of misconduct
- Gather data from BHP systems to support case investigations in a timely and quality manner
- Maintain appropriate records of data extraction to support chain of evidence requirements
- Close cases to ensure consistency between final reports and key data used for reporting purposes
- Manage processes in place for confidential storage and retention of Investigation related materials (for example, confidential sharepoint folders, as well as training and resource materials).
- Assist with system administration requirements across a variety of platforms
- Provide an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development including managing their own wellbeing and reducing psychosocial risks associated with the job.
- Develop and maintains professional and collaborative relationships with the Business by building trust and respect, acting with high ethical standards, objectivity, transparency, due care and professionalism.
This role is available in either Brisbane or Perth.

About You
You will be a professional who possesses strong business acumen. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, data storytelling and problem-solving skills.
Formal requirements of the role include:
- Degree qualified data science or related fields (or extensive relevant equivalent experience).
- Proven experience using a variety of systems and data analytics and data visualisation tools including PowerBI, SQL, Spotfire, Tableau and SAP.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Power Apps, Power Automate and Power Query
