About the Role
Our Global BHP Technology function is undergoing an exciting transformation journey and moving towards modern ways of working. Be part of a newly formed global DevOps team that partner with our Operations, Centre’s of Excellence & Functions to drive improvement and innovation in safety, culture, productivity, and social value through the application of world-class technology.
As part of Enterprise & Global Operational Functions Technology team, you will report directly to the Product Owner Operations Services (OS). Key focus area for this role will be supporting the delivery and maintenance of OS product enhancements, continuous improvement (CI), software change management, compliance and BAU activities. You will work as part of a global team which interacts closely with multiple teams across Technology, OS, and a large offshore partner team. Preferred location for this role is Brisbane but also Perth will be considered as a secondary choice.
In this role, your key accountabilities will include:
- Acting as an SME for various OS products and working with the partner teams around new requirements and business cases, prioritisation of demand, reviewing designs for small changes, and providing functional or technical advice.
- Assists to the overall management of the minor works and operations required to support the portfolio.
- Accountable for the operational support and stability of OS Product Portfolio of applications in line with agreed SLAs and maintaining mean time to restore of services within target timeframes.
- Drives automation and improvement of the applications in the portfolio to continuously improve service reliability, sustainability, and performance. This includes supporting Cloud Acceleration and Implementation.
- Assists in building a DevOps Culture, capability, and standardized routines.
- Assists with Application Portfolio Simplification.
- Engage with stakeholders in technology and business for problem management, business impact and other requirements clarification.
- Commit to cyber standards, health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development, as well as BHP’s Charter and Code of Conduct.
About You
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Experience specialising in development and operational support of IT applications and systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
- Team working skills, capable of engagement and influence with different stakeholders and ability to manage conflicts/issues with the business/end users.
- Ability to work with globally spread diverse team.
- Ability to manage conflicts/issues to agree priority requirements effectively and efficiently with the business/end users.
- Safety and sustainability mind-set.
- High level of business analysis experience.
- Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related (STEM) discipline (preferred but not essential)
Desirable skills:
- Experience in providing DevOps services using Web API, Visual Studio, Java Script framework, SQL, Python technologies
- Knowledge and understanding of Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)
- Knowledge & practical experience in Agile, DevOps methodologies and practices is an advantage.
- Ability to engage with others and to use multiple data points to take a planned and structured approach to solving problems.
- Ability to lead change.
- Experience in immersive technologies and Virtual Reality (preferred)
- This role does not require working in shifts and site travel may require based on the requirement.
