About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Port Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team.

This role will offer hands on training from skilled individuals in the field and will be great role for someone looking to begin their career in mining.

This role will be based at Port Hedland on a 5/2 or 5/2, 4/3 roster, with Residential or FIFO options available.

In this role you will:  

  • You will get exposure to many aspects of design drafting, from collecting information via photos, taking site measurements to producing design drawings;
  • You will work closely with stakeholders, engineers and project managers to get the information required to design and produce drawings for construction;
  • Check and review external vendor and internally designed packages for compliance to WAIO standards;
  • Your safety is important to us and we expect you to include safety into your work and actions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrated Engineering drafting skills and excellent communication skills and an ability to interact with various stakeholders of different levels. You will need to be able to work in an inclusive and diverse workplace and have a strong safety mindset.

In addition, we are looking for individuals with the following skills and experience:  

  • Tertiary qualification in either electrical engineering or CAD drafting or electrical trade background with site experience.
  • Certificate in Engineering Drafting will be advantageous.
  • Experience working on software for electrical drafting. Exposure to MicroStation 3D/2D is preferable.
  • Previous BHP Drafting experience using Microstation V8i and CadConform is desirable.
  • Previous SPO experience and familiar with BHP WAIO Drafting Standards is desirable.
  • Previous mining experience working on site.
  • Able to work unsupervised and gather field information to support electrical designs.
  • Ability to read and interpret field redline markup drawings for as building.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute towards safety on site.
