About the Role
The primary purpose of this role, Specialist Electrical Engineer within the Governance & Technical Stewardship team under the Engineering Function, is to manage and support the engineering function for developing, evaluating, and auditing the engineering blueprints (i.e., Standards, Specifications, Risk Assessments etc.).
In this role, you will ensure Electrical compliance with AS Standards, legislative requirements, and BMA and/or Peak Downs site specifications and standards and provide technical support to operations on Electrical Assets.
This position is a full-time role based at Peak Downs Mine on a 5/2 roster, offering flexible work arrangements.
Reporting to Superintendent GTS, your key responsibilities include:
- Confirming statutory requirements are met, rectifying and reporting issues
- Confirmation of compliance in areas of design, installation, and maintenance
- Provide Electrical guidance and technical support to the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance departments at Peak Downs Mine
- Review, update and approve the complete set of Electrical technical documentation (International, National & Site engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures, programs, and drawings) from which the operation is designed, constructed, operated and maintained.
- Create and distribute Electrical Safety and Improvement alerts to the stakeholders.
- Continuous Electrical improvement of Electrical Assets on site
- Assist with the technical input to projects and design modifications on site.
- Provide input into the G&TS budget
- Assist with the commissioning of new equipment and projects to the site
- Monitoring of servicing and maintenance work to ensure compliance with relevant standards and site requirements
- Participate in risk management processes
About You
You will have qualifications equivalent to one of the following levels
- Tertiary (Electrical Engineering degree) OR
- Trade (electrical) + tertiary (either already obtained (Assoc. Dip as min) or currently enrolled in a tertiary course)
- EEM qualifications are desirable but not essential
Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships across various teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.
You will have below Skills and Experience:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
- Technology and PLC knowledge preferable but not essential
- Working knowledge and application of various Australian Standards, Regulations & relevant codes of practice.
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, the Code of Conduct, relevant statutory obligations, relevant Australian Standards & WHSL requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks autonomously.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and technical manuals
- Preferably be from a mining or heavy industry environment, desirable but not essential
- Have experience with a CMMS system (preferably SAP)
- Document management experience
