Our Cadia operation in MAINTENANCE is now recruiting for the position of SPECIALIST – ELECTRICAL (UNDERGROUND)

Cadia is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 klms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for 

Reporting to the Superintendent – Electrical Maintenance, the Specialist – Electrical will be involved in the planning and management of electrical underground operations.

Using the Critical Control Management framework, you will ensure the assets within Cadia East fixed plant and development are maintained to allow the mine to achieve or exceed safety and production targets as part of a successful future at Cadia.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead and Support the Newmont Values
  • Support and guide a small team of high performing electrical personnel to execute safe & efficient shutdowns. 
  • Identify improvement opportunities within the WMS and the MOS that will increase planning efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Conduct Regular CCV audits to monitor Major hazards and manage the effectiveness of the critical controls put in place to prevent a death or life altering injury. 
  • Actively participate in Safe Production Meetings, shutdown meetings and crew discussions during shift to foster teamwork. 
  • Accountable for safe execution for all electrical work underground areas. 

The successful candidate must have extensive demonstrated experience in Underground operations.

You will also possess the following:

  • Trade Certificate &/or Engineering Diploma or higher 
  • Knowledge of Newmont Cadia UG Operation – Highly regarded
  • Sound understanding of Work Management fundamentals and SAP system knowledge 
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of Maintenance strategies to the maintenance execution teams that enables opportunities to be identified, analysed, and executed. 
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in a supervisory role in underground operations
  • Minimum HV3 Underground (High Voltage Switching Qualification Level 3)
