About The Role
Join our Process Engineering & Major Hazards function here at Rio Tinto, as a Specialist Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation in the Project Delivery team.
In this unique role, you’ll lead and execute complex control system solutions that reduce business risk, improve productivity, and support strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Manager Project Delivery, some of the responsibilities you may be required to undertake are:
Lead the delivery of instrumentation upgrade projects to meet needs of the asset owners and align with strategic intent
Design, development, commissioning and operational readiness of instrumentation upgrades within the portfolio
Set benchmark for best practice instrumentation upgrade processes, build tactics and systems to ensure high quality instrumentation upgrades are delivered by all project teams
Accountable for delivery, cost, schedule, quality and control risk for individual projects
Manage technical and project risk and escalate as required
On-going subject matter expert escalation support of the systems delivered within the portfolio, breakdown escalation & recovery, incident investigation, change management review & approval
Lead small teams of electrical and control system contractors
Support interns and graduates and upskill Engineers
Deliver projects adhering to The Way We Work and internal processes for Change Management and Approvals
What you will bring:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Proficiency of electrical and instrumentation standards
Solid understanding of capital project delivery processes and project management stages
Strong influencing, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
Experience in data processing and analytical tools
Manual 'C' class driver's licence
A strong commitment to safety, respect, and inclusive teamwork
