A truly unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Production Engineer to join our Marandoo mine operations team. With cutting edge autonomous technology at your fingertips and support of the brightest minds in the industry you will safely optimise production processes and drive continuous improvement to maximise output and reduce costs
As an integral part of the Mine Technical Services team, this role will allow you to expand your knowledge of all functions within an operational mining environment and gain invaluable experience to continue growing your career. This position will suit someone who is curious, passionate about driving continuous change, can embrace out of the box thinking and with the ability to challenge the status quo!
Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Planning, you will:
Deliver mine productivity 90-day improvement plans, data analysis, and insights into planning parameters and to drive cost reductions.
Collaborate with internal partners across mining technical services, dewatering, fixed plant, and mobile equipment maintenance to support the mine plan.
Inform and influence the Mine Planning team by providing appropriate parameters.
Conduct deep dives into parameters vs. actual performance of assets against input.
Demonstrate the Rio Tinto values of Courage, Care, and Curiosity.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Ability to lead safety & productivity improvement project work & drive improvements
Exceptional relationship building skills coupled with your ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of business partners will also ensure your success in this role
A manual ‘C’ class driver’s licence
Demonstrated experience in mine production or technical mining engineering roles within a large open pit mining environment
Someone who thrives on a challenge, can think outside of the box and has a good understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin value in the mining industry
Great computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word Document, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI) and reporting and analytics skills
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Prior experience with autonomous haulage systems
Experience in planning and using planning software such as APS

The Marandoo mine is located at the foot of Mount Bruce adjacent to the Karijini National Park, 50 km east of the town of Tom Price. Marandoo is known for its picturesque hills and mountain ranges. Our operation currently employs a fly in fly out workforce.
