About the Role
Nickel West have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their business with the role being based in Perth, with occasional site travel. This role is open to flexible work arrangements or part time opportunities for the right candidates.
You will provide technical expertise and oversight on defect registers and structural integrity and play an important role in the continuous improvement of this area.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Providing technical expertise to a broad range of stakeholders including the Structural Integrity, Production and Maintenance teams in both planned and breakdown environments.
- Ensuring conformance with the company’s charter, code of conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
- Have an understanding of key legal safety in design, hazards and effective control in mining and processing plant, safety in design, hazards and effective control in mining and processing plant.
- Maintain and provide expertise for Structural integrity and fixed crane management systems and defect registers.
- Provide eengineering due diligence to projects, responding to technical enquires, providing assessments and repair scopes and providing quality assurance.
- Continuously improve standards, creating new standards when required and ensure implementation across the business.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills and be able to deal with stakeholders at all business levels.
We have a strong focus on finding candidates with the right attitude as well as skillset. This role can be part time for the right candidate and supports flexible working arrangements.
In addition, we will be looking for candidates with the following skills:
- Degree in Structural Engineering
- Experience with engineering design, assessment and repair of concrete, steel and plate and earth retaining structures
- Experience in structural design and analysis using structural engineering package (eg. Spacegass), stress analysis using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software (eg. Strand7, Ansys) and reviewing design with 3D design software (eg. Bentley Navisworks)
- Experience with relevant Australian Standards (AS) in designing and assessing structures such as AS 1170, AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 1657, AS 4678, AS 3700, AS
- Experience in Asset Integrity Programs and management of defect registers and management of defect registers
- Experience with structural inspection and auditing.
