Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

Reporting to the Superintendent – Environment, The Specialist – Environment Compliance will join the Environment and Social Performance team as a subject matter expert identifying risks and mitigations meeting compliance requirements.

You’ll be structured and well organised with exceptional time management skills and you will have a commitment to supporting and achieving beyond compliance-based operations.  You will be well informed about NSW regulations and have experience in delivering operational excellence in the environmental sector. Your ability to communicate and interpersonal skills will be impeccable.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develops, manages and schedules responding to and providing professional guidance on environmental compliance-based considerations particularly in the fields of air, noise, waste or heritage.
  • Supports and provides input into the design and delivery of the strategies, frameworks, policies, and practices for the workstream.
  • Identifies and implements improvement initiatives, implementation plans and outcomes.
  • Coordinates data provision for internal and external regulatory and voluntary reporting as required and supports the business by ensuring data is available, reliable, and provided on time as required.
  • Understands legislative requirements and NSW Government and other industry standards and ensures all monitoring is compliant.

The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in mining in the environmental field, with a focus on odour, dust and noise mitigation and compliance.

You will also possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science / Engineering (Environmental) or Mining related discipline – Essential.
  • Tertiary qualification and or work experience in Monitoring, Business Improvement, or a Mining related discipline - Desirable
  • Experience in Mining Operations - Desirable
  • Experience in Odour, Dust and Noise – Highly regarded.

Please note this is a 5/2 residential role in Orange, NSW.
