Specialist - Environmental/Sustainability

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental/Sustainability Specialist to join the organisation. Reporting to the HSEQT General Manager, the focus of the role is to develop Macmahon’s strategic plan to improve sustainability performance.

Macmahon is a diversified contractor with leading capabilities in surface and underground mining, civil construction and resources engineering. Our end-to-end mining services encompass mine development and materials delivery, engineering, civil construction, on-site mining services, rehabilitation and site remediation. As an ASX-listed company, with headquarters in Perth, we work for major resource companies across various commodity sectors in Australia and Southeast Asia.

This role can be based in Perth or Brisbane. Our Perth Office is centrally located just around the corner from the T1/T2 Airport Terminals. Our Brisbane Office, is conveniently located a 2 minute walk from Brisbane Central Station. 

The role focus

• Provide guidance and advice to the Executive Leadership Team
• Lead Macmahon’s sustainability framework and key focus areas 
• Review environmental data, advise on results and address any non-conformance
• Draft the Company’s sustainability report
• External stakeholder engagement regarding environmental matters
• Drive increased understanding and awareness of sustainability
• Develop the Company’s strategic plan to address sustainability drivers 
• Identify areas of opportunity that assist Macmahon in becoming a leading mining contractor in sustainability

Ideal skills & experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or Engineering Degree in Environment/Sustainability or similar
• Demonstrated experience in a similar position within a mining environment
• Excellent working knowledge of statutory requirements and regulations
• Strong literacy skills combined with the ability to produce professional, technical reports and presentations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• A demonstrated ability to engage clients, workforce, and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
