About the rol

We are looking for a “Facilities Management Specialist” to join our Global Procurement teamfocussing on global category management and contract and vendor management across the Facilities Management (FM) portfolio.

As the Facilities Management Specialist you will develop an intimate knowledge of the Facilities Management (FM) category, contracts and supplier relationships. You will be a part of a small team and will work in collaboration with the business, as well as assisting stakeholders across the remote sites and corporate hubs.

This role will support the Senior Manager and Principal Advisor to manage the commercial, financial and operational facets of the FM contracts.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with Business Units and leading regional stakeholder engagement at all levels of the organisation.
  • Monitoring the regional FM markets which includes market supply/demand analysis, key market drivers, internal forecasts, future trend analysis and changes to technology & regulatory environments.
  • Optimising global and regional supply chains to ensure security of supply for the Business.
  • Measuring and reporting on supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while leading supplier review meetings.
  • Following the Rio Tinto Procurement strategic sourcing framework with specific emphasis on contract and supplier management.
  • Dispensation of timely and appropriate contract management and commercial advice consistent with global category strategy, in an operational environment that is constantly evolving.
  • Ensuring commercial activity aligns with global category strategy; and supports the development of global category strategy by communicating key objectives, needs and demands from the region.
  • Working collaboratively with our outsourced suppliers to ensure the most appropriate value is obtained, motivate to deliver to performance expectations with a partnership approach.
  • Presenting projects & initiatives with continuous improvement, commercial value focus;
  • Taking an active role in embedding the safety and performance culture within the team
  • Investigate and resolve any issues with PO requisition and SAP processes
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.

This role is a great opportunity for a thorough and results driven procurement professional to support RTP by applying strong commercial acumen in translating business needs into commercial solutions.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Hold a Bachelor degree in Commerce (or related)
  • Have strong commercial acumen with proven category and contract management capabilities
  • Have strong project management, problem solving and customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Have strong data analysis, modelling and presentation development skills (Excel, Power BI and Powerpoint); Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate and influence effectively, both verbally and in written form, with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to think on your feet and be analytical, to challenge the status quo and problem-solve in a collaborative manner
  • Be committed to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Be flexible and adaptable
  • Build a positive reputation by dealing openly, fairly and consistently with external parties.

 It will also be beneficial if you:

  • Have demonstrated experience in or exposure to Facilities Management
  • Are familiar with service provider performance metrics.

Rio Tinto Procurement provides procurement and supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through the global category management and strategic sourcing of goods and services for all operations and businesses. Some travel may be required.
