Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Orange is equally the most attractive residential mining location in the southern hemisphere with varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange and home to many world class wineries, eateries, farms and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
As a senior member of the commercial team, The Specialist - Finance will report into the Superintendent-Commercial acting as a subject matter expert providing commercial, financial, and accounting technical expertise to the Cadia operation and the broader Newcrest group.
With a focus on technical accounting, reporting and governance the ideal candidate will take the lead on financial stewardship of the operation covering: Month End processes, Stewardship Reviews, Audit, Reporting and Financial Governance and other related financial improvements.
Other key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Identifying control and process weakness within the Cadia finance and broader Commercial function, and will bring a focused and fit-for-purpose mindset to deliver actionable change and improvements (production/cost)
- Ensuring internal accounting processes comply with accounting standards and supporting the month end process including financial control and oversight of the balance sheet.
- Lead delivery of ad-hoc projects e.g., advising Cadia operations on complex transactions and collaborating with other teams to provide technical financial accounting expertise.
- As a senior team member within the commercial, planning and analysis team ensure appropriate knowledge and skills are shared amongst other members. Act as a subject matter expert to assist the superintendent with development of team and site knowledge.

You will also possess the following:
- Tertiary-level qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or related discipline
- CPA/CA Certification
- Audit / Compliance Background advantageous
- Previous experience in a similar Senior role ideally within heavy industry (or the appropriate exposure) role within Mining Operations essential (Oil & Gas, Power Generation considered)
- Strong investigative, analytical, software, and system skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP/TM1/HFM
- Confident interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
