Specialist Geologist – Orebody Characterisation
Work Location: Various sites across the Pilbara
Roster: 14D/14R FIFO ex. Perth
As a Specialist Geologist within the Resource Definition team, you will be given the opportunity to:
- Focus on upskilling geologists on geological, geometallurgical and geotechnical logging with an emphasis of understanding the characteristics of our ores and how these impact on ore processing
- Compile and formalise comprehensive geological and material type training for geologists, with the ability to provide individual and group training sessions as well as feedback for ongoing professional development
- Facilitate training sessions to cater for new starters through to experienced geologists
- Standardise logging practices and procedures throughout the department and Pilbara Operations
- Oversee the collection of materials and the roll out of core libraries across the Pilbara Operations
The preferred candidate will have the following key attributes
- Absolute commitment to safety and FMG Values
- Extensive knowledge of different Pilbara mineralisation styles, with a background in exploration, mining, or resource definition
- Extensive iron ore logging experience, with an understanding of minerology, textures and metallurgical properties
- Highly proficient in diamond core geological and geotechnical logging
- Proficient in the use downhole geophysics as a validation tool for geological logging
- Experienced and passionate in training and developing geologists
- Able to engage in clear and effective communication, and work collaboratively within a team environment
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a dynamic environment across all FMG’s Pilbara Operations
