About the Role

As a Specialist Applications Engineering in the NPI and Facilities Domain, you will be ensuring resilience of Technology services by updating, maintaining, and operating various technology products through your diverse applications experience and domain knowledge.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Participate in core routines including Performance review, Continuous Improvement, safety activities and problem solving
  • Plan and participate in impact analysis and health review of applications
  • Lead initiatives that identify direction of change for product landscape
  • Perform preventative maintenance, lifecycle upgrade and enhancement activities to existing Domain products deployed, on-premise, in the Cloud and as SaaS.   
  • Provide technical assistance during the delivery of new applications to reduce the transition to operations effort.
  • Contribute to the ServiceNow Knowledge base and mentor vendor resources, elevating their process and technical knowledge as they perform the majority of break fix tasks and request fulfilment. 
  • Identify where new platforms and capability can be employed to accelerate, reduce risk or otherwise add value
  • Maintain the standards for our products and apply these through engagement with architectural, delivery and operations teams as well as vendors
  • Provide oversight, diligence and field leadership for initiatives implementing solutions within the Operations Systems domain
  • Develop strong relationships with other BHP teams, service partners, and vendors
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement across people, process, technology and cost.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline 
  • Experience with Application engineering, asset management and application lifecycle management, including COTS and bespoke applications
  • Solid understanding of Application support principles (Transition to Operation, Incident, Request, Change, CMDB), design patterns, Problem Solving Techniques and Escalation methodology
  • Proven recent and intermediate experience (design, support or architecture) in Geoscience, Resource Engineering, NPI, Asset Engineering or related Apps

Exposure and proficiency in the following is highly desirable:  

  • SNOW
  • JIRA
  • CI/CD experience

Location 

You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi-award-winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. Some infrequent travel to our operational sites in Pilbara Western Australia is possible.
