About the Role
This is a nine (9) month fixed term contract and part time hours three days per week, reporting to the HSS Manager, through delivery of core business processes you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in injury prevention and injury management activities. Through collaborating with the customer and building strong relationships with key stakeholders to create a culture that prioritises key health activities, you will work to reduce occupational-related health risks, and to deliver health promotion that encourages a mentally healthy workforce.
Our organisation design principles define the standards for how we organise our work into jobs, our jobs into teams and support those teams with defined capabilities, the HSS team provides deep functional expertise and business partnership to the operations we are co-located with to ensure risks with HSS impacts are effectively managed.
Through proactive engagement and coaching of operational leaders, the health specialist delivers meaningful support on occupational health related matters and deliver key health activities that encourages a healthy workforce.
You will be required to:
- Support personnel who become injured or ill at work through an effective return to work approach in line with BHP and workers compensation requirements;
- Provide technical expertise in injury prevention and injury management activities;
- Maintain health reporting and execute data integrity and governance activities;
- Develop a working knowledge of legislative health reporting and the injury and illness classifications that apply to your work areas, utilising company standards and OSHA reporting guidelines;
- Maintain mutually beneficial relationships with medical and allied health providers; and,
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a well-established team
About You
To be successful in the Health Specialist role you will have a genuine desire to help people achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes; combined with a clear understanding of the role that the resources sector plays in health and wellbeing management of our most important asset – our people.
You will also have:
· Tertiary qualifications and proven experience in a health-related discipline (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or Exercise Physiology);
· Working knowledge of relevant Health-related legislation across Australia and coordinating workers compensation case management;
· Experience delivering health strategies and injury and illness prevention initiatives; and,
· A commitment to coaching, influencing, and encouraging a mentally healthy workforce.
You will be able to work closely and share workload with your team but also be comfortable working autonomously when required and make informed decisions. You will be motivated by a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.
