We are looking for a Specialist HME, Buckets/Trays/Structures to join the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Maintenance Planning & Engineering team and drive maintenance and engineering initiatives across the Heavy Mobile fleet.
This is a great opportunity to be a subject matter expert to our key stakeholders and provide guidance and technical expertise across a wide range of areas, including maintenance strategy and tactic development, asset optimisation, defect elimination, failure analysis, engineering support for operational business initiatives and custodianship of relevant business standards.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer and working in a collaborative community, you will:
· Take the lead on the development of engineering requirements, maintenance tactics and strategies for HME fleet buckets, trays and major structural components
· Maintain central custodianship of all in-field buckets, trays and major structural assets, to ensure that lifecycle strategies are effective in achieving desired outcomes
· Complete fabrication and pre-delivery inspections on buckets, trays and major structural components as required, to ensure compliance with build specifications
· Ensure that off-site component rebuild and disposal scopes are clearly defined, and executed, in partnership with internal partners
· Provide coaching and technical support to site-based teams to achieve best-practice maintenance and repair outcomes for structural assets and components
· Utilise defect elimination and continuous improvement processes to identify and address chronic defects or design limitations impacting component performance (i.e.: productivity and/or uptime)
· Assist with wear-package design and selection to optimise component life and maintainability
· Support commercial tenders for component supply and rebuild relevant to your portfolio base, as the key business technical SME
· Support the business and operations in establishing and/or maintaining compliance with relevant internal and industry standards applicable to your portfolio base
· Develop and maintain effective networks through collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at RTIO operations, supporting departments, and equipment suppliers
· Lead and facilitate risk assessments in your field of expertise.
What you’ll bring
· A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team, as well as a passion for achieving excellence in your area of accountability
· Engineering degree, Diploma or significant industry experience in a relevant field (i.e.: structural engineering, welding engineering, fabrication, etc.)
· Proven experience in the management of structural assets in heavy industry, including a thorough understanding of relevant standards and performance mechanisms
· Proven experience with SAP CMMS and relevant project management solutions
· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
· Exposure to heavy mobile mining equipment maintenance
· Exposure to Fabrication Quality Assurance mechanisms
· Experience leading or managing high-quality structural repairs in a fabrication/workshop environment
· Exposure to productivity optimisation mechanisms for mining assets.
