We are looking for a Specialist HME – Dozer, Grader & Ancillary Assets to join the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Maintenance Planning & Engineering team and drive maintenance and engineering initiatives across the Heavy Mobile fleet.

This is a great opportunity to be a subject matter expert to our key stakeholders and provide guidance and technical expertise across a wide range of areas, including maintenance strategy and tactic development, asset optimisation, defect elimination, failure analysis, engineering support for operational business initiatives and custodianship of relevant business standards.

Reporting to the Principal HME Engineering and working in a collaborative community, you will:

  • Take the lead on the development of engineering requirements, maintenance tactics and strategies for Dozers, Graders & Ancillary Fleet and components
  • Maintain central custodianship of all in-field Dozers, Graders & Ancillary assets, to ensure that lifecycle strategies are effective in achieving desired outcomes
  • Build and maintain constructive and mutually-beneficial technical relationships with our key OEM partners
  • Provide coaching and technical support to site-based teams to achieve best-practice maintenance and repair outcomes for Dozers, Graders & Ancillary Fleet components and assets
  • Utilise defect elimination and continuous improvement processes to identify and address chronic defects or design limitations impacting component performance (i.e.: productivity and/or uptime)
  • Develop and maintain effective networks through collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at RTIO operations, supporting departments, and equipment suppliers
  • Lead and facilitate risk assessments in your field of expertise
  • Gain exposure to, and lead, technical work across other asset streams, subject to criticality and priority

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team, as well as a passion for achieving excellence in your area of accountability
  • Engineering degree, Diploma or significant industry experience in a relevant field (i.e. Mechanical Engineering, Plant/Diesel mechanic trade, etc)
  • Proven experience with SAP CMMS and relevant project management solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in heavy mobile mining equipment
  • Familiarity with Dozers, Graders & Ancillary Fleet maintenance strategy and tactic development, asset optimisation, defect elimination, failure analysis and engineering support

Where you will be working

This Monday to Friday Perth based role offers a hybrid of flexible working arrangements and will work out of Rio Tinto’s Central Park building CBD offices and our Operations Centre facilities at the Perth Airport.
