About the Role
The objective of the Specialist Hosting Engineer is to scope, design and develop solutions virtual infrastructure projects of through continuous integration and aligned to delivery processes and practices.
Key accountabilities include:
- Engineers infrastructure solutions by applying established engineering methods to design and build infrastructure solutions in alignment with safety and engineering requirements.
- Scope and plans project work by suggesting the activities, resources and budget required for a project based on intended outcomes
- Determine project deliverables, work packages and then tracks their delivery requirements of work against the project plan.
- Inputs into Technical requirements of Statement of Works (SoW) documents for vendor response and delivery
- Supports the design of technical solutions with the detail to ensure it can be completed and followed by other Technology parties
- Guides, assists and co-ordinates technology parties with the technical aspects of project solutions
- Supports the installation and configuration of infrastructure components for projects if required
- Commissions infrastructure by designing and validating verification activities to confirm that technology infrastructure components are functioning correctly and meet performance compliance standards
- Participates in reviews of the ongoing performance of a project and implements actions to further enhance the project success.

About You
Key criteria include:
- A strong background working with virtual infrastructure projects and delivery
- Has a knowledge/understanding of Cloud and Hosting (i.e. virtualization, operating systems, data protection, storage, public cloud transport, private cloud transport and virtualised applications
- Experience with cloud platforms and technologies as well as on-premises containerization
- Desire to learn new technologies.
- Experience with VMware vSphere
- Experience with server infrastructure (Cisco UCS)
- Experience with storage infrastructure (NetApp)
- Experience with Cloud & Cloud Edge technologies (Azure Stack/AWS Outpost)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (for example Ansible, Terraform)
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science/Engineering or significant industry experience
