ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This full-time, permanent position will be at our head office in Perth.

We understand and value the benefits of flexibility, and we operate a hybrid work model that enables a mix of in-office and remote work arrangements (in the office and from home).

As a Specialist Governance, you'll develop practices that ensure our work meets South32 and HR standards across all regions.

In this role, you'll create frameworks that bring consistency to our global HR Services approach while allowing for necessary regional differences. Your work will set clear standards that improve service quality and compliance.

Reporting to the Lead HR Services Global, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Design and maintain comprehensive governance frameworks that bring structure and clarity to HR Services operations, while coordinating regular reviews that ensure these frameworks evolve with our changing needs.
  • Foster a culture of compliance by developing and reviewing controls, delivering engaging training to team members, and creating meaningful connections between governance practices and our broader vision.
  • Coordinate essential governance activities, including investigations and audits, while maintaining accurate process maps and work instructions that ensure consistency across our global operations.
  • Manage critical system permissions and monitor compliance through thoughtful governance practices, maintaining comprehensive records of external systems to enhance security and transparency.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Explain ideas clearly through well-made presentations and documents, making complex governance topics easier to understand.
  • Develop good working relationships across teams to guide others toward best practices while respecting different perspectives.
  • Organize and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently, paying close attention to details to ensure accurate governance documentation.
  • Apply your problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop practical solutions to enhance our HR systems and processes.
  • Use your prior experience in HR, Payroll, or Technology to strengthen our governance practices and your knowledge of HR systems.
  • Help us work more effectively by suggesting improvements while maintaining proper controls, using your experience in process improvement.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field or proven relevant work history.
