About the Role
The Specialist HSE Learning and Development will support the development of the HSE learning approach and the continuous improvement of established programs using the latest technology. The role will provide coaching to Line Management and HSE roles in execution of Whitehaven Coal (WHC) HSE processes. The role will incorporate adult learning methodologies, to enable a consistent and standardised approach to support operations. The Specialist HSE Learning and Development will support the improvement of learning and assessment practices through the exploration of new methodologies in education. This is a local Gunnedah based role which requires the successful applicant to either live in or relocate to the region. Whitehaven offers support and great relocation packages.
What You’ll Do
- Support WHC operations in the development of a Safety-focused culture through collaborative and effective communication.
- Support the development, implementation and ongoing review of key learning and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the participants experience and learning outcomes.
- Develop and maintain safety and learning management systems in response to legislative and operational change and industry leading practice.
- Develop and improve the HSE Training Needs Analysis for Frontline Leaders and HSE Professionals to ensure effective training programs are implemented.
- Develop and improve the HSE induction program and associated processes to ensure workers are aware of the HSE requirements of their role.
- Develop and improve the WHC HSE induction for Leaders program and associated processes to ensure leaders are aware of the HSE requirements of their role.
- Support the development and maintenance of the HSE learning program, in consultation with operations. Including responsibility for the WHC Training Centre and associated training materials and packages for operators and maintenance personnel.
- Source external providers, determine cost effective training, and coordinate the provision of HSE training by external providers where required.
- Support the emergency management response training throughout the company, in consultation with training providers and operations and continuously improving the content.
- Support the maintenance of competence scheme and ensure operations are provided opportunities to attend recognised training.
- Coach and develop leaders in the risk assessment process and incident investigations. Providing advice, support and coaching to site personnel as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Ideally 3+ years of Health, Safety, Learning & Development experience in mining or similar
- Knowledge of legislation and statutory requirements in NSW
- Advanced Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent problem-solving skills and great attention to detail
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or similar, or relevant experience
- Systems focus with an ability to plan and organise information
- Ability to work well and collaborate in a team
- Strong interpersonal skills
