About the role  

As a part of the HSS business partnership team, you will be an instrumental player in establishing and implementing aspects of Occupational Hygiene Plans and work strategies on site.  You will identify, assess and advise on occupational hygiene matters in the workplace that potentially impact human health from environmental and work-related sources. 

In this role you will: 

  • Serve as the primary contact and provide specialist advice to all organisational levels on site on hygiene hazards including noise, gases, heat stress, various airborne contaminants, chemicals, and biological agents.  
  • With the relevant stakeholders, investigate and develop exposure reduction action plans to reduce worker exposure to health hazards. 
  • Provide support and guidance to the Hygiene Technician(s) on your site.  
  • Manage Cority database to ensure quality of monitoring data and accurate reporting of results to stakeholders. 
  • Support execution of hygiene improvement projects across multiple sites. 
  • Work with a high functioning team of Hygienists to fulfil business and legislated objectives.  
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day. 

About You

  • Degree qualified in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Physics, or a relevant associated field. 

  • Three or more years’ experience in occupational hygiene, ideally with exposure to the Mining / Mineral Processing industries. 

  • Strong communication skills which allow effective engagement with all levels of management. 

  • Attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to work with large amounts of data. 

  • An active and engaged team member who can positively contribute to team culture.   

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way. 

  • Provisional or Full Membership to the AIOH advantageous.
